What happened to the good ole’ days when you could arrive at a concert or music festival and get in and get out on time? Or how about the days when performers performed on time? Oh, wait a minute… Those days never existed!
As you probably know by now, Kanye West was railroaded (almost literally) by an angry mob of so-called fans at last weeks’ Tennessee Bonnaroo Music Festival. Kanye was set to perform at 2:45 A.M. but didn’t arrive on stage until 4:45 A.M. The angry mob was apparently pissed off because Kanye was late.
Today, Kanye broke down the mishap and explained that the reason for the delay was due to the event staff. Kanye had a glow in the dark theme planned for his stage appearance, and the festival organizers made false promises to get it done. This obviously did not work out and it was the cause of the delay.
To make matters worse, Pearl Jam’s set ran an hour over schedule and by the time Kanye’s performance was set to begin, the stage was soaking wet, the monitors were broken and the back drop was half-ass.
It’s absolutely amazing how the morons at the music festival rioted over something that was completely out of Kanye’s control. And then the media puts their spin on it and makes Kanye out to be the bad guy.
Does anybody remember Woodstock 99?’ This was the year of Numetal. Korn and Limp Bizkit rocked the stage and got the crowd so hyped, they began rioting, looting, and damn-near tore the stage down. So what did the media do? They blamed Limp Bizkit.
What the hell his wrong with society? Why aren’t people held accountable for their own decisions. An artist performs at a gig to get the crowd hyped and give them their money’s worth. So why then, do we blame an artist for doing their job? The core issue here is the decency of people. If you go to a rock show, there’s gonna be a mosh-pit. Is it the band’s fault when people get trampled and walk out with broken arms and broken legs? No. Why? Because that’s what the f**k happens in a mosh-pit. Since we know rock shows engage mosh pits and festivals engage belligerent drunken college students, why is everyone making a big deal about a 2 hour delay. Those ingrateful bastards outta be glad Kanye even performed. Most artists would’ve ducked out and had the promoter make up a B.S. story to the crowd. What’s really sad about all of this is that Kanye got slapped with “disloyalty to fans” badge and had his reputation trashed, while the so-called fans looted and damaged thousands of dollars worth of property. Who held them accountable? How many of them were thrown in jail? How many of them were on the 6 o’clock news? To Kanye West: Keep your head up bro. You did the right thing.
